Recently got back from Kerala, I dont usually write on forums but this is a really special holiday. Its brilliant! The hotels are all great, 4 star - the food is good in all of them (except Cochin) and the best is at the Travencore where you stay for the 2nd week. This is a fab hotel - the location is second to none and the people/food is fab. There are no bars in any of the hotels, in the Travencore we used to meet for a drink by the swimming pool. Wine is about £18/£20 a bottle, beer is cheap. Maybe buy some alcohol in duty free before you go, or you can buy locally if you want to get together before dinner in your rooms/terraces.
There are very few bars or restaurants outside any of the hotels but the hotel food is wonderful. Remember this a very unspoilt area, not like Goa at all. We tended to have earlyish nights as once dinner is over there is not much else to do, but no one minded as we were up early, even in the second week. The Hotels are smart casual in the evening. Definitely not shorts.
The houseboat on the backwaters was the highlight of the week, fantastic! you will be very comfortable, onsuite bathrooms! though a little basic but absolutely fine. The food is very good as well. You will not be disappointed. Although I could have done 2 nights instead of 1!!
Its very hot, around 93F/95F, and quite humid. At night its still pretty warm.
Mosquitoes didnt seem too much of a problem but take some sprays. The coach they used was pretty old and noisy, but airconditioned, though I think they are getting a new coach.
When you get to the Greenwood Hotel for the Wildlife Sanctuary, go on the trek, not the boat trip. The trek was fantastic and you will see more animals.
When you arrive at Trivandrum be prepared to wait quite a while for your bags, its India! but Shree will be there to meet you, your Rep, he is really nice.
I would do the trip all over again if I could (though I would personally miss out the Cochin bit)

This was my first experience of a singles holiday, and what a brilliant time it was. Following initial contact via this website, I met up with 4 fellow travellers at the airport and we all got on well from the start. There were 8 in our group for the 1st week, and 9 for the 2nd week (not as many as we all expected) but for a small group we had good fun together. Our rep, Mohamed, was a great guy and from the time we met him at the airport he made sure that we were all happy and were having a good time on our holiday in Sharm. He arranged some brilliant trips for us, including quad biking, camel riding, a trip to Ras Mohammed National Park, and a yacht trip around Tiran Island on Christmas Day. A small group of us had an early start one morning and flew to Luxor and visited the Valley of the Kings and other historic places, plus we had a boat ride on the River Nile and were transported to a restaurant in a pony and trap. Mohamed travelled with us and we also had a second guide to explain all the history. We also had gala dinners in the hotel for Christmas and New Year. The Eden Rock Hotel was really good and in a great location overlooking Naama Bay. The rooms were of high standard and the staff there were first class and very attentive to our needs. The food was self-service buffet style, and it was ok, but eating out in the town was not too expensive as an alternative to the hotel food. All in all I had a fantastic time and was a bit sad to come home, but I look forward to visiting Sharm-El-Sheikh again in the near future. I would not hesitate to book another singles holiday, although maybe I was spoilt as this was such a great first experience!

This hotel is new to Solitair for the 2009/10 season.
It's got prime position in the town centre, but you don't hear any noise from the busy street outside. Rooms are adequate (not exactly “Ikeaâ€) but are spacious, and include a safety deposit box, aircon, telly, fridge, balcony and constant hot water - bed linen is changed every day.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are all exceptionally friendly and eager to please, even down as far as the maintenance guys, who will always greet you with a smile.
The hotel is popular with Indian nationals – MUST be a recommendation. Overall split was about 30% Indian and 70% European …... met several Brits who go back year after year.
Plenty of choice for brekky, cornflakes, bacon, eggs, sausages (Goa style – couldn't get very excited about them personally) bread (make your own toast) rolls and fruit, plus about 4 local dishes (curry for brekky anybody ?). Occasionally Chef fires up the tandoor and cooks rice pancakes which he then fills with a delicately spiced potato mix - made a nice change, very tasty.
Evenings, the restaurant is A La Carte. You get a daily voucher for 500 rupees (about £7.00) - just about covers the cost of a decent 3 course meal, providing you don't go for the Lobster dishes. Pool your vouchers, so if there are 6 people on your table, you just pay a bit extra if the total comes to more than 3,000 R. - free half bottle of wine each.
The Menu is huge, probably 50 main course meat/fish curry type dishes, plus all the usual veg./rice/nan bread stuff. Also about 20 Chinese dishes (equally delicious) and a few European dishes like pasta, steak or fish'n chips, for the unadventurous.
Overall a very decent hotel and exceptionally good value for money ….. plus guaranteed sunshine !

the tours are reasonably priced a must visit is castle you see from hotel but only go after 10 am as you will not get in 3 of guests went and had to wait as there is army up there and guard at gate i was told just looked like the guard frommidnight express not for faint hearted as you have to climb 400 steps to get to castle
belapies abbey is must quite outstanding views
karpandle tour was good stopping off at a village and ruins and church with icons finally stopping of at the best beach you will ever see all 15 miles of it warm sea
taxis are reasonbly priced ship to harbour 10 lira 4 passangers dormas if you want to go singly are reasonbly priced 2lira upwards
boat trips are priced in english 16 pounds all day and 16 pound for night one good meals on board and cheap drink
will be booking cyprus next year as i love the place

Kyrenia itself was a pleasent walk 30 minutes passing by the turkish army barracks remembering no photos unless you wanted a rifle shuffed up your hooter.The main harbour is pleasent of course everytime you went down there you had the disturbence of boat trip sir drink sir meal sir advice if you want a drink stop at top that is cheapest 3.50 lira for a pint kyreniatown is safe noo lager louts
shops are a plentylots of fake shops selling everything from handbags to shoes lots ofdesigner shops selling real mcoy sportswear from fred perry benetton nike puma addias lots of barbers plenty to eat internet cafes
in town there is the castle not for the faint hearted as no safety barriers where you would think but well worth a visit cost is 12 lira six of us went down there for a castle and shopping visit steve sharon and me went castle and nicky wendy andgloria waited until we came out we did 2 hrs later and could not see them so we thought they had gone shopping so we did not go down to harbour to find them we continued going uphill shopping with sharon until i spotted nike shop afterwards we went round corner only to bump into the other 3 and get told off leaving them at harbour lol
supermarket from ship is a ten minute walk up road lemar very cheap
one thing for the smokers amongst you if you land at larnaca you have to pass through the border so on return you have to go back through border cigs are cheap 2 50 benson but you only allowed 2 pack that is 40 cigs on return if you have more they will confiscate them and promptly open other travellers cases endering you to bad looks same goes for drink 1 litre
