This was my first trip to the Greek Islands and I must say that I enjoyed every minute of it - many thanks to my new Solitair friends.
The Palm Beach hotel is fine. On first impression some of the fixtures and fittings did look a bit dated - the modern slam and lock door closing mechanisms haven't found their way to the Palm Beach yet. Mind you, the bed was comfy and everything worked including the aircon. Room cleaned every day to a high standard, but as with lots of hotels the shower temperature fell the later you left it in the evening. How do solar panels manage to heat the water up during the night ? At 7pm it's tepid, but at 7am it's scalding !
The food is pretty good and I can't really remember anybody actually leaving much on their plate. Buffet style, but always a decent choice at breakfast, and of starters, mains and sweets in the evening. If you like red jelly you'll love it there (one of our standing jokes !) - we had it 6 nights out of seven ! Luckily there were a couple of other choices each night as well.
Happy Hour from 8pm til 10pm every night - all cocktails 4.5 Euros. And there was entertainment in the hotel on 4 nights out of the 7, and to be honest for a smallish hotel the standard was excellent.
Kos town is a pleasant 20 minute amble away, or 1 Euro on the local service bus and 6 Euros in a taxi, but take care on the footpaths though because cyclists aren't allowed in the roads - they share the pavements with the pedestrians ! Bit like UK nowadays I suppose lol.
It's a really cosmopolitan town - plenty of tourist type shops plus a few that wouldn't be out of place in Bond Street. Prices generally are roughly the same as UK but the bars and cafes on the harbour promenade are slightly more. There's plenty to see by daytime as Kos is steeped in centuries of diverse history, and lots of boat trips to other islands or even Turkey.
All in all a very pleasant holiday - many thanks to everyone concerned.

Just returned from the Ship Inn Hotel in Kyrena. The hotel was very good for this sort of holiday. Lovely grounds, low level buildings and a beautiful view of the mountains from the back. Food was also reasonable with a selection of 3 starters and 3 main meals each evening. Even during the 2nd week, still some new items on the menu. I agree with others though, too many chips!!! I would also have liked a separate childrens' pool as the beaches were a good bus ride away and soetimes the pool had too many children in it!!!! Rooms were clean but in need of a bit of a facelft. My fridge didn't work and t took a few days to get it replaced. Staff were realy nice. The location was not quite as I expected. It was quite a way from the nearest accessible beach...too far to walk. Kerenya Harbour was also a bus ride away as, mentioned by others, the main road was busy and in August, far too hot to walk far.We found a lovely, friendly bar across the road but that was about the only one in in walking distance. If you want fabulous food, go to Ambience Restaurant, (a taxi ride away)
I was very nervous about going on my first singles holiday but the people I met really made the holiday. (you know who you are!!!) were fabulous and I hadn't laughed so much ever!!! Hope we didn't keep everyone awake when we sat round the pool after midnight!!!
The trip to the top of the Pan Handle was excellent. I would suggest renting a car if you like the beach as the really fab beaches (such as Turtle beach and Golden beach) are not accessible by public transport. 4 of us went to the nearest Turtle Beach by taxi and a return cost us approx 70 TL, return. You could try haggling!! I would definitly return to North Cyprus but next time a different location. The castle at Kyrenia is well worth a visit.

Just returned from a week in Kyrenia at the Ship Inn. As a first timer I was a little apprehensive about holidaying alone but after making contact with others travellers on the forum I felt much better.
The hotel was clean and comfortable and all the staff were very polite and helpful. I enjoyed the opportunity to take part in some of the optional excursions. We had a fantastic day travelling around the Karpaz peninsula despite the heat. Our guide Lina was very knowledgeable and managed to keep most of us entertained on the long drive (some slept!! - yes you know who you are!)
The Cypriot Night was also very enjoyable - well worth it.
All in all...I met some very lovely people, made new friends and had a super holiday. I thoroughly recommend it!

This was my first singles holiday and I had the best holiday ever. I was really really nervous about booking this holiday and even though I pretty much get on with anyone I was a bit worried about who would be on the holiday and whether we would get on. There were seven of us ranging from 32 years old (I am 35) to 60 years old and we had the best time ever. I have never laughed so much in my life and have made some new amazing friends. I would recommend this type of holiday to anyone.
The Hotel itself is really nice. The staff are fantastic - nothing is too much trouble and the rooms are nice and clean. It is a taxi ride to Kyrenia harbour but its also easy to get a bus. There are some lovely beaches accessible by bus or taxi and staff at hotel / reps / taxi drivers will be able to recommend where is best to go.
An amazing holiday with amazing people. Can't wait to go again next year !!
